I am grateful for a very special experience that I had this morning.
I saw a bird trapped in the room and I picked it up gently and carefully. I held it with my hands and ready to let it fly, but it didn't fly away immediately. It stood still on my fingers for awhile. It seems to me it wanted to say thank you to me.
Shortly after, it flew away with speed.
I feel blessed that I could actually hold a bird, which I have never imagined I could do so. I was even more happy when the bird rested awhile before it flew away. It seems that it trusted me that I will not hurt it and in fact, help it to get out from where it was trapped...to free it from being trapped.
It means a lot to me when I saw it struggling. It reflected to me the struggles of my refugee clients who are in search for freedom. It also reflected on my own struggle in living a more balance life by not over doing for my own personal interests but more of truly helping others to grow to become who they are called to be.
I know God is always there to help me. He will pick me up from my fall and let me regain freedom again by letting me go freely. I have been given choices to which direction I want to go and like the bird that I held this morning, I could see its determination in flying on one direction. I pray to God that I too can be like this bird, to fly on the direction towards God; to be faithful to His invitation and trust in His love and providence.
It also meant a lot to me when I touched the bird. I could feel its vulnerability an yet it has a life of its own. I feel love for it as I could feel this is how God has touched me in my life, with His gentleness, tender and loving care.
It is a beautiful gift from God that I experience. He has again assured me of His love and He confirms my uniqueness. He has made me today with gifts of love for others, especially those who are weak, voiceless, last and lost.
I thank you Lord for everything that You showed me today.
